Services
Consultation
A 30-60 minute virtual consultation is always free. This meeting lets us get to know each other a bit and make sure we’re the right fit. During this session Mateo will ask some questions and take notes, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask him any questions you have.
Birth Support
Birth support typically includes:
Two prenatal visits
Birth planning
Evidence-based information about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods
Emotional support
Advocacy
On-call services starting 2 weeks before your due date
Labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum support
Chestfeeding/bottle feeding assistance*
Two postpartum visits
Unlimited text/phone support up to 6 weeks postpartum
Community referrals
If you need extra support at pregnancy related medical appointments, Mateo may be able to accompany you. Advocacy is another important part of his mission as a doula. He may also be able to help connect you to services such as WIC, etc.
Postpartum Support
Postpartum support will vary depending on the situation, and typically includes:
One prenatal visit for postpartum planning
In-home emotional and physical recovery support
Evidence-based information about feeding*, infant care, and development
Guidance and assistance for infant care
Taking care of baby while parent(s) sleep, eat, relax, etc.
Text/phone support
Postpartum support can also include
Sibling care
Meal prep
Light cleaning
Light errands
Postpartum support is unique to each situation! Scheduling can be flexible; Mateo is simply too sleepy for overnight care, but can refer you to another doula for extra help if necessary.
* - Chest/breastfeeding and feeding assistance only within the scope of what a doula can provide. Mateo maintains connections to more advanced birthworkers in the community and will happily refer out to the appropriate qualified professionals if extra support is necessary
Medicaid
All pregnant people with medicaid can receive doula services at no charge, regardless of pregnancy outcome, including labor/delivery support and 8 visits throughout pregnancy and postpartum periods. Mateo will soon be able to accept Medicaid, but in the meantime you can visit the New York State Medicaid Doula Directory to search by county for a doula who can accept Medicaid.
Pricing
Labor Support packages are sliding scale starting at $1500, pricing may vary due to what supports are offered but will always be discussed and agreed upon in advance. Postpartum packages start at $100 per 2 hour visit.
Mateo is working toward participating with insurance. Payment plans are available.
If cost is a barrier, please reach out anyway! We can probably work something out.
Pricing and payment plans are subject to change at the discretion of the provider.
